January Favourites

Dior Glow Maximiser Review Dior Primer

January can be pretty pants for a lot of us. The festivities are over, the weather is miserable and we're trying to stick to those regimented resolutions and in my case, failing miserably. So, it's so nice to have a few beauty bits that have perked me up and have really made their impression throughout the month.

First up are two bits from Tom Ford, gifted to me by Chris (he picked these off his own back - keeper!).
Tom Ford Colour Quad in Nude Dip - This quad is super luxe from the packaging down to the formula & pigmentation. The shades are absolutely beautiful with the lighter, champagne shades complimented by the deeper, taupe & chocolate shades. The colour pay off is beautiful and the formula is incredibly buttery too, a joy to apply. The Tom Ford Matte Lip Colour in Pussycat has the same, beautiful formula to it. The pigmentation is absolutely, gorgeous. It glides on the lips and isn't drying at all considering it's a matte lipstick, which is perfect for the colder weather as my lips can be fairly vulnerable to the. The shade is something I wouldn't of usually gone for, it's a pink-plum hybrid but it really does add warmth to the face and a little goes a long way. Thanks babe!

It wouldn't be right if I didn't mention a foundation, being the foundation floozy that I am, but oh my goodness the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick is so darn good. I was half expecting this to be really drying and cake-y as that's the first thing I think of when I hear 'stick foundation'. Honestly, I've really enjoyed using this, a little goes a long way and the finish is a gorgeous, satin finish too. The longevity is pretty decent and can withstand a day in the office without looking like complete crap by 6pm. The coverage is medium - full and you can build this up nicely using a buffing brush and dab a damp Beauty Blender once done just to tone any heavier bits down. The colour range is brilliant so I would strongly suggest you head down to a Space NK to make sure you get the right shade. It's also great if you want to use it alongside a lighter foundation and just apply it in the areas where you need the extra coverage.

I've also rekindled my love for Charlotte Tilbury - I think I had Tilburied myself out whilst working for them for a short while but she's really nailed it with her latest Matte Revolution lipstick in Pillow Talk, which is the lipstick version of her infamous Lip Cheat shade. This lipstick gives me LIFE - it's flattering, plumping but still looks natural. It's a perfect pink-nude which you can rock with any look, the wear and formulation of it is gorgeous as always too. It's classed as a Limited Edition product (which I really hope it ends up being permanent line!) - so grab one whilst you can. I also picked up The Retoucher too, which I forgot just how good it is. I picked it up in shade 2, which is lovely for concealing under the eyes. The coverage doesn't feel as heavy as the likes of the NARS Creamy Concealer and Urban Decay but it does deliver in brightening but it also doesn't settle into lines or dry up throughout the day.

I've had a bit of a rediscovery with Dior's Glow Maximiser, which I'll touch on briefly as I've heard they discontinued it last year?! Anyway, whilst I mourn, I'll tell you it is or was a beautiful primer which just makes me look alive and adds a little somethin' somethin' to my lifeless, Vitamin D deprived face. I'm pretty sure BECCA's offering is fairly similar. Regardless, a glow inducing primer is a must during the winter.

Last up, I've been loving Giorgio Armani's Si fragrance. It's fresh but also feels grown up too. I think it's down to the Blackcurrant and Amber notes - ha, I know very little on fragrance so have a read here and a spritz in store. It's beautiful.

Is there anything that has brightened up your January? I'd love to hear below!
